Villa, 201

Danzante Bay, Baja California Sur

With an emphasis on architecture that sits low on the landscape and blends with the surrounding, KBHA created a home that is both contemporary and regional. Baja's comfortable environment and abundance of natural light, allowed for an open and modern design.

A juxtaposition of thin horizontal roof planes is balanced by the thick masonry masses that rise out of the site. The home itself is an overlapping of programmatic volumes to soften the formality of the rectilinear module. The entry of the house is bolstered by heavy walls and wide glass panes, which open to the vast space of the beach below. Edges and boundaries are softened with seamless interior glass corners that, while blurring public and private space, also reveal instances of the desert through the rhythm of glass as one traverses the axis of the home.
